Hostels in the West End of London are at the very heart of the capital - known as the theatre and entertainment district of London.
It is also of course one of the most expensive area of London to find accommodation in London. Be ready to pay a price premium for a backpacker hostel in this part of London but most hostels are just outside the centre.

About hostels in London's West End
The geographical centre of London is Trafalgar Square, that is from where all road distances to London are measured. For the leisure visitor it is the surrounding mile or so that contains much of what most leisure visitors come to London for.
Just north of Trafalgar Square is the main theatre and central restaurant district centred around Leicester Square and Covent Garden. Here are most of the West End Theatres and the major film premières happen at Leicester Square. It is the area many tourists come in the evening to be entertained, eat and people watch.

The YHA has three hostels in some of the finest central locations in London off Oxford Street, London's main shopping street, in the heart of the City of London by St Paul's Cathedral and another opposite Regent's Park, one of London's large Royal Parks.
On the fringes of the very centre of London is Bloomsbury, the book district of London, the British Museum is located here in a very atmospheric part of London. You can walk to Covent Garden and Leicester Square in just a few minutes and there are a couple of options here.

YHA London St Paul's
This charming period building used to be a school for choirboys so is steeped in history. Sitting only seconds from St Paul's Cathedral and a short walk from the river, this hostel offers a beautiful London location in a remarkable building. Private rooms are available, there is a licensed bar and breakfast and evening meals are served in the dining room. TV room, library, small shop selling snacks and laundry room completes the picture. There are however no self-catering facilities at this hostel.
