Liverpool Street is in the City of London, the financial district of London and most hotels here cater for business, not leisure travellers. Liverpool Street station at its heart is more of a large commuter station helping you get around London easily. It is, however, the terminus for the Stansted Express so transfers from Stansted Airport arrive here.
There are some excellent hotels near Liverpool Street Station but it does not offer as much choice as other areas like Victoria, Paddington and St Pancras.
For more information on the City area as a place to stay, take a look at our City of London area guide.

Due to the focus on the business market for accommodation, Liverpool Street hotels during the working week have room rates that are high, even for London. But at weekends and holidays, there are bargains to be had. Hoteliers try to fill the empty rooms vacated by business people by offering them at a price the leisure traveller can afford.
It's worth noting that at the weekends the financial area is like a ghost town, a lot of shops, restaurants and businesses close down. If you are a leisure traveller then you’ll find a livelier atmosphere very close by, down by the River Thames around Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
We have a dedicated page looking at hotels around the Tower of London. These can be very good value at the weekends and holidays.
In the last few years the no-frills, budget chains have moved into the Liverpool Street area in a big way. ibis, Travelodge and Premier Inn are now well represented. More recently, easyHotels, a super budget chain with some of the lowest prices in London have opened in the area.
Although this is the financial capital of London it is still full of landmarks and attractions. The Tower of London, Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral are all located in this area.
You’ll also find iconic architecture like the famous Gherkin building too. Leadenhall Market, HMS Belfast and Museum of London are all situated in the city area. It is not just the big-name attractions that make this an interesting area to visit. The city area is full of hidden gems that are best found on foot, with olde world pubs, restaurants and historic churches.
