When looking for the best Heathrow Airport hotel for Terminals 2 or 3, a key fact used to be that there was no hotel that you can walk to from either Terminal 2 or Terminal 3.
This changed in July 2019 when the Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminal 2 hotel opened its doors. This is the first hotel to ever be connected directly to the central terminals. You can now walk directly to the Queen's Terminal from this hotel.
Even more recently the Aerotel T3 Heathrow London opened in October 2019, this hotel is located within 3 itself, offering the ultimate in convenience and rooms can be booked on an hourly basis. A flexible offering for people with late or early flights or stop-overs.
If you are using any of the other hotels than Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminal 2 and Aerotel T3 Heathrow London, you will need transport of some kind. Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 are located in the centre of the airport between the runways. You cannot walk out of the central area other than to the new Hilton Garden Inn hotel, you will have to take a vehicle of some description to your hotel.
A road tunnel exits the central area underneath the runway to the north side of the airport. The majority of hotels at Heathrow are found along the northern perimeter road, called the Bath Road at the end of this tunnel.
All these hotels north of the airport have terminal shuttle buses to Terminals 2 and 3 and many have free public buses too. This area also has a good choice of pubs, fast food and convenience stores outside the hotels you can walk to.
None of the mainstream Heathrow airport hotels at any passenger terminal are allowed to run complementary shuttles either, instead the airport authority runs buses called Hoppa Buses that serve several hotels on each route for a fee.
The Hoppa Bus has a route network consisting of routes each covering three or four airport hotels, typically at 20-30 minute frequencies.
There is a full charge made for this, though its a flat same charge for every hotel no matter how far the transfer journey.
The airport also subsidises public buses at Heathrow Airport. Many hotels, especially those on the Bath Road you can travel to your passenger terminal free of charge. Find out more about public bus alternatives to Hotel Hoppa Bus Heathrow.
Clearly the best location are the hotels linked to the terminal itself. The Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow hotel allows you to walk straight to the terminal and avoid any travel logistics at all. For an even shorter walk, the Aerotel T3 London Heathrow is actually in Terminal 3. After the Hilton and Aerotel, the Bath Road hotels are geographically the closest hotels to Terminals 2 and 3, a hotel on the Bath Road has many facets that make hotels along the Bath Road the next best place to look for your hotel if using Terminals 2 or 3.
London's red buses running along the Bath Road give you the option of free or very cheap transport to Terminals 2 and 3.
You also have the option of escaping your hotel situated on the Bath Road for food and drink. Especially if you are on a budget this gives you access to fast food, convenience stores and pubs as well as restaurants not tied to your hotel.
Hotel prices are mostly driven by the business market, so all Heathrow Terminal 3 hotels have much softer pricing at the weekend and seasonally winter months are cheaper than summer months.
At weekends the price differential between budget and four star hotels is much less than mid-week and often you can arguably get better value at the full service hotels.
If you are on a budget there are several solid budget chain no frills hotels near Heathrow Terminal 3, along the Bath Road.
If you have one eye on your wallet the benchmarks are the Ibis Heathrow, Ibis Styles Heathrow, the Travelodge Heathrow Terminal 2, called Travelodge Central, easyHotel and the Premier Inn Heathrow Terminal 2/3, also known as Premier Inn Bath Road.
If lowest cost is everything then the Heathrow Lodge is the benchmark, but note this is a very simple hotel where the cheapest rooms are not en-suite.
The Moxy Hotel can be found on the edge of Cranford, a residential area, with a small neighbourhood shopping centre. It offers affordable yet stylish accommodation from Marriott. Passenger terminal transfer buses run to all four terminals at Heathrow at least twice an hour.
Given the amount of business customers and the popularity of Heathrow as a venue for meetings and conferences you are spoilt for choice of very large luxury hotels.
If quality is your overriding requirement then four hotels all clustered together on the Bath Road should be on your short list, the Marriott Heathrow, Sheraton Skyline, Radisson Edwardian and Renaissance Hotels.
All of these hotels have a choice of restaurants, room service, indoor pools and health centres you would expect from a top hotel.
If you have one eye on the wallet but still want some of the services of a four star hotel the Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow T2, Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre London Heathrow, Novotel Terminals 2 &3 , Leonardo Hotel and Holiday Inn Ariel are worth checking out.
If you travel a little further out from the Bath Road you can find lower prices but the hotel may be more isolated and you will be more dependent on the hotel for food, drink and those small items. Check out Novotel M4 J4 Heathrow, Holiday Inn M4 J4 , and DoubleTree Hilton Heathrow .
All of the full service hotels at Heathrow have very volatile room rates. Especially at weekends some of the top hotels can be priced very close to the more basic and/or remote hotels.
Many of the hotels featured on this page offer a park and stay at Heathrow Terminals 3 and 2.
See Heathrow parking options for current parking deals across all Heathrow terminals.
The London Underground offers a reasonable cost transport option between Heathrow and London and takes the best part of an hour to get into central London.
Pay out the premium prices of the fast Heathrow Express train and the London terminus at Paddington is probably far from where you want to go in central London.
From most Heathrow hotels you'll need to add on 20-30 minutes to get to the position where you are actually boarding the train from your hotel to London.
If sightseeing in London is important the original Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow is a good choice, being less than a 5-min walk from Hatton Cross Underground station.
The Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow not to be confused with the new Hilton Garden Inn Terminal 2, has the Hoppa Buses to Terminals 2 and 3 and you can get the 285 public bus free from Hatton Cross Station to Terminals 2 and 3.
