Bed and breakfast hotels near Victoria combine budget rooms in London with a great location and mostly quite similar to mid-range hotels. A major transport hub, Victoria has a good number of B&Bs which are popular amongst visitors of London with sights like Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey within walking distance.
Victoria bed and breakfasts are usually Victorian or Georgian style townhouse buildings set over 4, 5 or 6 storeys. They are simple hotels and not many will have lifts. It is also worth noting that the cheaper rooms often have shared bathrooms.
One of the few budget hotel areas within walking distance of major attractions such as Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, Victoria benefits from a very central location. With convenient cheap airport buses to London's all 4 major airports, a major gateway to London for those flying into Gatwick airport and hosting London's only intercity coach station (which is also the main departure point of day tours outside London), Victoria is an excellent area to stay for the budget-conscious visitor to London.
Most B&Bs are concentrated just behind (south of) Victoria rail station - a large bed and breakfast budget acommmodation area stretching south as far as Pimlico. Here, you'll have no problem finding competitively-priced restaurants and other facilities like launderettes and convenience stores, catering to the needs of those on a budget.
On average, budget bed & breakfasts range between £50-100 per night - more expensive at the weekends. The cheapest B&Bs are basic and may have shared bathrooms and there may not be lifts to the bedrooms, just stairs. For breakfast, at some places you can get a traditional cooked full English breakfast and others may have basic continental breakfasts while some, despite the name, may charge for the breakfast. Due to this wide range of differences, there is a wide variance in price.
Not all bed and breakfasts are at the value end of the market. There are some real gems out there that offer great accommodation, luxury and personal service. For example, Luna & Simone has consistently rated highly for being one of the best B&Bs in London and charges double the price for rooms as the cheapest Victoria bed & breakfast offering, often within similar price range of the lower end Victoria luxury hotels.
Victoria is not the cheapest accommodation district in London. The bed and breakfast hotels near Victoria station command a price premium over other budget hotel areas like Earl's Court Kensington and Bayswater. This is due to Victoria’s central location.
If you are looking for a central location first and foremost and are not looking to break the bank on accommodation, then the Pimlico and Victoria area with its range of B&B hotels, close to the main sites in London is a great option.
We also recommend looking at Earl’s Court in Kensington which is just a little further out from central London but will offer cheaper rooms because of this. If you have a limited budget, backpacker hostels are worth checking out too.
