Mr
Desira senior established the Luna & Simone Hotel in 1970. It
is now managed and owned by his two sons since 1980. The hotel's cosy,
family-like atmosphere is stronger than ever and its location is an
ideal base from which to see the main tourist attractions such as
Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, the theatres,
the parks, the night-clubs and so on.
There is an Internet room on the ground floor which guests may use,
and wireless Internet access on the ground and first floor of the
Hotel.
All bedrooms are non smoking, comfortable and clean with colour TV,
hairdryer, writing desk, tea and coffee making facilities and a safety
deposit box. Apart from two basic single rooms who share a bathroom,
all rooms have their own fully tiled bathrooms with powerful showers,
toilet and wash basin.
The full English breakfast is served in the breakfast room from 7
a.m. to 8.30 a.m.
Typical
Customer Reviews
Below are some fairly typical reviews from customers that have stayed
at the Luna and Simone B&B Hotel. They are independent viewpoints
and not necessarily the view of this web site.
"First of all, the location is really good, 10 minutes walking
to victoria station and there you can catch the tube to everywhere.
Houses of Parliament is 15 min far. Westminster is very close as well.
There are a lot of restaurants, supermarkets (sailsbury, denbigh´s...)
all around, the area is very quiet and seems to be safe...
The Luna Simone is a victorian style building, white, beautiful indeed.
Inside, the reception, very little, is between the two stairs of the
hotel (there´s no lift) that separate the building in two sides,
the left end the right. The room (number 9) was tiny but enought for
us. Perhaps 12 square meters with batroom ensuite (2 square meters
with only a shower. But the best was that everything was spotless,
umpolluted, there was no trace of a hair, not even on the carpet that
cover the room (not the batroom God thanks. Clean towels everyday,
soap, room service everday, a TV set, hair drier, a tiny wardrobe,
a coffe machine and lots of free samples of coffe, tea, sugar...The
bed was big with strong mattress, the room was painted in yellow and
decorated with cheap but modern style. And the heating worked perfectly.
It was lovely to find out that the water in the shower came hot and
powerfull (you can regulate the temperature as you want.
The breakfast (from 7 to 8:30) was the tipical english one: you can
choose between tea of coffee, fried egg with beans and bacon or ham
with tomato; anyway there were orange juice, marmelades, toast...and
don´t forget to ask for yogurts if you like. They will give
you even a couple of them. The breakfast room was in the basement
but it had got a quiet and lovely environment."
"The
Pimlico tube station is a 5 minute walk. We used the Victoria station
only when we used the regular rail services for day trips, because
the entrance to is on Belgrave Road. The Victoria tube station is
on the other side, off Wilton Road, and is a bit farther than Pimlico.
We used an internet cafe on Wilton Road which is part of a Subway
restaurant.
We have stayed in much smaller rooms, and thought the size was fine.
We had plenty of room and storage space. The bathroom had a shelf
above the toilet to store bath items. The room was always spotless
when we returned, and we were messy! Showers are HOT and powerful.
Wow. We brought a big bar of soap with us-- recommmended. We had room
9 which did not face Belgrave Road. I don't know how noisy a front
room would be but Belgrave is not a high traffic street. We made one
local telephone call and were not charged for it. When we paid our
bill the day before we left, the reception offered to arrange a 5
a.m. wake-up call.
I can't comment on the breakfast because we never ate it. We don't
like hot breakfasts, and we're vegetarian and don't eat sausages.
On Tachbrook Street there is a wonderful bakery and we bought bread
and cheese for breakfast. Further up on the street there is a Saintsbury
supermarket and on Warwick Way there is a Tesco grocery. We didn't
eat at any of the pubs and small restaurants in the area because we
had theater tickets every night and ate in the theater area. Restaurants
near the hotel include pubs, Indian, Thai, Italian, and French.
Belgrave
Road is a lovely walk to the tube. There are many small hotels along
the street in converted apartment houses. We usually returned to the
hotel after 11 p.m. and felt very safe in the area."
"For this price you cannot go wrong here. excellent little room.
great breakfast. quiet road for london. nice pub round the corner.easy
to get to and the friendliest staff i have experienced in london for
years."
"Luna Simone is a family run hotel in the Pimlico/Victoria section
of town. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, the fixed
breakfast menu was ample, transportation options could not have been
better, and the staff (mostly family) could not have been more helpful.
The neighborhood was well maintained.
Holy
Apostles Catholic Church is only 4 short blocks away and they have
a Sat 6pm mass that was full of good energy. The restaurant selections,
grocery stores, TUBE/Bus stops within easy walking distance.
There
are several fantastic options for long jogs/runs and the other guests
were a bonus. This hotel attracts the Rick Steve's crowd and well
traveled individuals were more than willing to share their daily events
to help each other explore the city and surrounding regions."
"My wife and I had a 10-night stay at the Simone in February
and can't say enough good about this hotel. Last year we stayed on
the Luna side, so we've had a chance to experience both parts of the
establishment. What's so good about this place? The location--only
a short walk from Victoria Station, two tube stops, the bus stop,
grocery stores, restaurants/pubs, etc.; the rooms--they might be small,
but they are extremely efficient in the use of available space; the
cleanliness -- I wish some American hotels would take lessons on how
to keep a property as pristine as this one is.
But
most of all, it's the people who work here that give the Luna Simone
such a distinct personality. It's easy to see that they care about
their guests, the property, and the good name that the hotel has earned
over the years.
Anything
bad? Absolutely not. I doubt if there's a place in London that offers
such value for the price. And I'd like to know of another hotel where
customer service is as friendly and sincere as it is here. "
"The Luna and Simone was absolutely perfect for our trip to London.
The location was its best quality. There is a bus that services most
of the big sights that picks up and drops off right out front. Also,
it is within reasonable walking distance to Victoria Station."
"The
staff was extremely kind and helpful. Although small, the room was
always clean and comfortable. If climbing stairs is a problem then
make sure you get a low floor. The amount of flights sometimes became
burdensome. We exhausted the breakfast choices within the first
few days, but it was good and the staff was always accommodating.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who wants a cozy
hub from which to enjoy London, but doesnt care too much about
luxury."
